Create a custom feed

A custom feed lets you choose the exported fields and their names without selecting a marketplace template. FeedForge can generate custom XML, CSV, or Excel (XLSX) files.

Create the feed

  1. In FeedForge, start a new feed and choose Custom feed.

  2. Enter a feed name and filename. The filename is used in the feed URL.

  3. Set Max Number of Items per File, Feed Content, Feed format, and Schedule.

  4. Open Feed fields. Review the default fields, then add, edit, reorder, disable, or remove fields to match the system that will read the file.

  5. Optionally select existing Product filters. You can create a filter from the Product filters page and return to the feed.

  6. Save the feed. Open its detail page to check generation and access the published file.

Custom feeds are not tied to a marketplace. Check the receiving system's required column or XML element names, formats, and accepted values before changing the mapping.

Choose what each row represents

Feed Content controls which rows are written:

For example, a product with three variants can produce one product row, three variant rows, or all four rows when filters and feed limits allow. Product rows use the product ID; variant rows use each variant's ID. The default mapping also includes a parent product ID field for variant rows. The default new-feed choice is Variants Only.

On a product row, the price and compare-at price come from the first variant remaining after filters. Product-row stock quantity is the total across variants that remain after filters, before feed-content selection and item limits. A product row does not have a specific SKU, barcode, option value, or variant metafield; those fields are empty. Choose Variants Only when the destination needs each SKU and price separately.

Choose the file format

Field order in Feed fields is the order used in the file. XML can repeat an element for a list of additional images; CSV and XLSX place that list in one cell. Custom TXT feeds are not available.

Changes to a published feed

You can edit a custom feed's mapping later. Saving a mapping or changing its filters does not immediately rewrite the published file. Use Regenerate on the affected feed, or let its next scheduled generation use the saved settings. The feed detail page warns when the published file needs regeneration.
