Choose custom feed fields

In a custom feed, Feed fields is the mapping between Shopify data and your output file. Every enabled field has an Output field name, a Source value, and a Transform. For example, the output field price can use the source Price with the transform Price with shop currency.

Edit the mapping

Open Feed fields while creating or editing a custom feed. Use Add field to pick a source; edit an existing field to change its output name, source, or transform. Move fields up or down to change their order. Disable a field to keep its configuration without exporting it. At least one field must remain enabled.

Output names must be unique and start with a letter or underscore. The remaining characters can be letters, numbers, underscores, dots, or hyphens. A mapping can contain up to 100 fields. Output names are used as CSV and Excel headers or XML element names, so copy the spelling required by the destination.

The default mapping includes item ID, parent ID, name, description, product type, product URL, image URL, vendor, SKU, barcode, price, stock quantity, stock status, and the first two variant options. You can change or remove these defaults.

Pick the right source

Product type is the merchant-defined Shopify product type. Shopify taxonomy category is Shopify's standard category path; these are different sources. Product and variant metafields can be mapped to output fields, but they are not currently choices in the Product filter picker.

The Effective image URL source uses a product image for product rows and prefers the variant's image for variant rows. Variant image URL is empty when a variant has no assigned image. Product-row SKU, barcode, options, and variant metafields are empty because a product row does not identify one variant. Product-row price and compare-at price use the first surviving variant as a representative offer.

Choose a transform

An unavailable source value exports as empty. If a metafield definition cannot be loaded, built-in sources remain available; the picker shows a warning. If your saved mapping already uses a metafield that is no longer listed, check it before regenerating.

Stock output versus stock filtering

The Inventory quantity output source shows a variant's quantity on a variant row. On a product row, it totals quantities across variants surviving filters. Availability outputs in_stock, available_for_backorder, or out_of_stock. A zero-quantity variant with Continue selling when out of stock is normally available_for_backorder; an untracked variant is in_stock.

The Keep in-stock items filter preset has a narrower rule: it keeps only variants with quantity above zero. Output fields describe the rows that remain; a mapped Availability field does not itself remove rows. See the Product filters guide.
